Here’s a quick review of July, 2024.
I’ve had a very busy month behind the scenes finalizing Monstrosity and playtesting Brutal Beatdown. Both of which, I am highly excited about!
MONSTROSITY
I should be releasing Monstrosity next month. I’ve been playtesting it on Tabletop Simulator (you can too!) as well as with print-and-play versions, but I recently got in my official version from The Game Crafter, and it was AWESOMMMMME. There are a couple surface level tweaks to make, and some rulebook adjustments, but aside from those, it’s ready, ready, ready! 🙂
BRUTAL BEATDOWN
Brutal Beatdown is going to be a huge project for me. It’s going to be nearly a dozen standalone games that are all mix-and-matchable, so getting the mechanics right, is highly important. The plan is for it to have 5 modes of play. Training mode, Sparring mode (tentative title), Beatdown mode, Brutal mode, and Story mode.
My attention is now on Sparring mode, and I’m playtesting some pretty neat changes at the moment. I need to have it ready for Stonemaier Games Designer Day on September 22, 2024, when I have a 2:30 hour window scheduled to showcase and playtest it.
I am also narrowing down my print-n-play Kickstarter plans for it. Originally, I was going to release a different set of characters, but as I work out the details for the over-arching story, I’ve rearranged it a bit. Now, the first release will have a set of enslaved rat-like creatures that I’m currently illustrating.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Release Monstrosity, along with its expansion and optional Mint Tin for a September Crowd Sale.
Finish the playtestable version of Brutal Beatdown and tighten the Kickstarter plans.
