What is Kickstarter?

I’ve begun showing sneak peeks of my upcoming board game, Dead End, which I’ll be running a Kickstarter for in March of 2022. Kickstarter is a BIG DEAL, so I never stopped to consider that some of you may not even know what it is. Oops!

Simply put, Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform, which essentially means a crowd of people coming together to fund a project. Kickstarter came into existence to help people such as myself bring our creative visions to life with financial support from those of you who are just as excited about our projects as we are.

The way it works is I offer a product (In this case, my board game) and set a funding goal. (In this case, 7 Billion dollars!)

Anyone who is interested can “Back” the project, and every time someone “Backs” the project, they are basically preordering it. If enough people back the project, and I raise my goal amount of funds, the Kickstarter is a success, and I’ll then begin the process of getting my game manufactured and delivered to you.

It’s important to note, no one will be charged until after the Kickstarter SUCCESSFULLY funds.

However, if I DON’T raise my funding goal, no one will be charged, and I’ll receive zero funds to pay for the game’s manufacturing. It’s an all or nothing platform. I either raise all of my goal amount, or I get nothing.

That’s why it’s so very important (and much appreciated!) for everyone to click my Kickstarter link now, create a quick account (if you haven’t already), and then back the campaign as soon as it launches in March. The sooner a project reaches its funding goal, the better it’ll presumably do because people will want to jump on board something that’s already succeeded.

I’ve kept this short and simple by sticking to the basics, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask below.
